Intermarket Surveillance Group - ISG

Categories: Tech

It sounds like an organization from a George Orwell novel. But rather than a shadowy organization overseeing a dystopian future, the ISG is a group formed by various regulators and exchanges to help keep trading markets safe. Kind of like a neighborhood watch...but for financial markets.

The organization monitors trading activity, looking for fraud or signs of manipulation. The ISG also promotes information-sharing between members.

Founded in the early 1980s with an initial focus on U.S. markets, the organization is now a worldwide group with over 50 members.
