Showrooming
Categories: Marketing
We love window shopping. We love to go to the stores so we can see things up close with our own eyes and touch them with our own fingers. Then, once we’re convinced we’ve found the perfect item, we leave the store, go home, and shop around online until we find it for super-cheap and we order it.
This thing we just did, this whole process of finding something in a store and then price-shopping it online, is known as “showrooming,” and it can be a real money-saver.
One of the problems with doing all of our shopping online is that, sometimes, we don’t know exactly what we’re going to get. Sure, we can read reviews and product descriptions and all that, but until the item in question arrives in our home, we don’t really know if it’s going to look, feel, and perform the way we want it to. And this is true whether we’re talking about buying a new swimsuit online or a new car. Showrooming takes some of the guess out of the game, making it more likely we’ll be satisfied with our online purchase. Not only are we getting what we want, but we’re getting it for a lower price. And that’s enough to put a smile on any savvy shopper’s face.
