Grade 5
Writing W.5.2.A
Introduce a topic clearly, provide a general observation and focus, and group related information logically; include formatting (e.g., headings), illustrations, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension.
Words can be downright boring sometimes—why not include some fancy pictures and headings, too? While your students already have experience introducing a topic and supporting it using multimedia evidence, this standard places a strong focus on the logical structure of this information. That means your students should understand why they're using a certain piece of evidence, and when the most effective time is to do so.
