Olive is going through the final pangs of finalizing her most final of final floor plans. [Olive dropping Cheez-it crumbs on her floor plan]
- 00:20
Suddenly, she’s panicked about how she’s going to fit the most important stuff from
- 00:24
the other two.
- 00:25
She starts to sweat.

A lot.
- 00:27
Actually, it's kind of gross…maybe she should get that checked out…
- 00:30
Anyway, Olive has to do something fast, or her final floor plan is gonna get wet.
- 00:35
So very reluctantly…
- 00:36
She gets out her phone and calls her old friend, the architect.
- 00:40
When he arrives, he takes one look at Olive’s floor plan, whips out his red pen, and asks [Architect sits down at the table]
- 00:44
Olive what she’s willing to cut.
- 00:47
Olive cries and says…nothing!
- 00:49
But the architect tells her that it’s the only way if she wants to put stuff in there
- 00:53
from the other two.
- 00:54
The architect starts drawing X’s right on the floor plan.
- 00:57
Each one is like a knife slashing Olive’s soul.
- 01:00
He adds that they'll redraw everything once it's mapped out.
- 01:03
Next, the architect forces Olive to look at her other two floor plans and identify the
- 01:07
things she wants to incorporate into the final plan. [Olive looking at the plans]
- 01:10
Each thing Olive wants to incorporate the architect tries to squeeze into one of the
- 01:15
x-ed out spaces.
- 01:16
Sometimes it fits fine.
- 01:18
Other times, not so much.
- 01:19
And Olive just has to deal with it.
- 01:21
There are also times where the architect can adjust some other room measurements to make
- 01:26
room for the new stuff.
- 01:27
The biggest changes are when the architect has to shift stuff around or slide stuff over
- 01:31
to make room for new stuff.
- 01:33
When that happens, the architect draws arrows to show the movement. [Architect making alterations to the plan]
- 01:37
The architect is also careful to cross out any measurements that are being altered.
- 01:41
He also rewrites the new measurements above the crossed out ones…
- 01:44
Before finishing, the architect suggests they add up the lengths and widths of the room.
- 01:49
They have to be sure everything totals to match the length and width of the office space,
- 01:53
which is 35 by 30 feet.
- 01:55
He tells Olive that if it doesn’t fit, they have to go back to the drawing board. [Architect smiling next to a board]
- 01:59
Olive tells him she’d rather scrap the whole thing, than start all over again. [Olive jumps out the window]
- 02:03
Who needs a tax office?
- 02:05
Maybe she’d be happier selling lemonade. [Olive at a lemonade stand with her thumbs up]
